Centennial is the classic IPA hop with the nickname Super Cascade. It's similar to Cascade but more intense in it's character.
Commonly used in West Coast IPA and APA. Also well suited in Barley Wines, ESB and other bold ales and stouts.
Developed in a colaboration between Charles (Chuck) Zimmerman and S.T. Kenny at Washington State University in 1974. It was first launched to the public in much later in 1990.
Character: Flowery with distinct notes of citrus and grapefruit.
Origin: USA
Typical values: Alpha acids (correct alpha value is printed on the label): 9 - 12 %
Cohumulone: 28 - 30 %
Total oils: 1,5 - 2,5 ml / 100 g
Storage stability (alpha acids): Good, 60–65 % alpha acids remaining after 6 months at 20 °C
Possible replacements: Ekologisk Centennial, Cascade, Chinook, Galena, Nugget, Columbus/Tomahawk.
